Walk Arounds

On Friday night we went to Stillwater with Ryan's parents for Walk Arounds at OSU.  The sororities and fraternities pair up and make these elaborate "house decks".  They have a theme to interpret basically with chicken wire and colored tissue paper.  This year's had something to do with generations.  You can see in the picture they reproduce photographs, involve moving parts... They are incredible!!!  The students work so hard each year.

This was the second year for me to celebrate this homecoming tradition with Ryan and his family.  There are tons of people and lots of things to do.   We had a great time!

You guessed it, we took Evan along too!  He wore his jammies, a sweater, and this adorable hat one of my nursing students, Lisa, made for him.  It covered his ears and worked perfect... even though it wasn't that cold yet.  We had fun being all bundled together walking around.  Evan loved looking at all the displays and people.

I could only carry Evan for so long in his pouch... he sure is getting heavy, especially when he falls asleep!  Ryan rescued us and finished out the night.  He is such a great daddy!

First Fire

Last night we built our first fire on the porch. We have a wood burning fireplace out there. It was fun! And oh, the smell of wood burning... fall is here! Evan thought it was pretty neat of course.


Lately he has been really fussy and hard to entertain. He has two teeth on the bottom and I'm thinking surely the rest are about to come all at once the way he's acting. ;o) I also think it's time for him to crawl, scoot, whatever. He seems to get really bored inside with the same scenery. We can only walk the street so many times in a day!

On the farm and in Shawnee

Ryan was off work yesterday, so he went down to his parents' farm to work with his dad.  Evan and I joined them later that evening.  We love to spend time with Grandpa and Nonnie and we are sad we are 40 miles away.  Evan got to play with some tractors and trucks, and we even went for a family tractor ride in Ryan's tractor... pictures to come.  

Here is Grandpa reading to Evan about the ABC's of the farm.  Evan especially liked to turn the wheels on the tractor!  Anything with motion will keep him interested.  Is he a boy or what!?

For anyone still reading, I also had planned to stop on campus at OBU and see some of my nursing students who had been wanting to meet Evan.  However that did not work out... lucky for them they got out of class early.  I'm pretty sure that never happened when I was there!  :o)  Even though it's not exactly the same as when we were there, it just does my heart good to drive through every once in awhile.  There are so many great memories, amazing friendships, and unforgettable experiences that I made there.  Maybe it's the fall and remembering freshman year and each new school year.  There is something special about OBU!

One more from this weekend

Evan in Ryan's Harley Davidson hat (not to be confused with Texas orange)!  You can probably tell he is not feeling 100%.  As much as I absolutely hate when my baby is not feeling good, the only redeemable thing is that he is extra snuggly.  He wants me to hold him and rock him, which normally he is too busy for.  

You may also notice his toy around his leg which accidentally ends up there quite often.  But it's great because he can't throw it out of reach.  :o)  Also, these jammies are really soft and the paw prints on the feet are too cute.  Who says boys' stuff isn't cute!  

The Bumbo is pretty great for this pre-sitting stage.  He can do it for a short period, but will eventually topple over.  I'm sure a mom invented this.  :o)

OU-Texas weekend

Ryan, Evan, myself, my parents and Amanda went down for the OU-Texas game this weekend.  Ryan and Papa went to the game and all the girls and Evan went shopping.  It would have been a perfect weekend except that 1. OU lost and 2. Evan and I were up most of Friday night with congestion from allergies, which made for a tough Saturday.  

But that did not stop us from having a good time.  This was Evan's first time to stay in a hotel and he got so excited when we laid him on the king size bed.  He rolled everywhere, back and forth, squealing and giggling.  If he could've jumped on the bed, he would have!  :o)

Evan is 6 months old

Wow, Evan is already 6 months old!  He loves sitting on the porch with Daddy and anything outside.  He can be in a full on cry and you walk outside with him and the world is right.  :o)  He also has two teeth on the bottom now.  We are just crazy about this little guy!

Happy Birthday Aunt Amanda

We have enjoyed celebrating Aunt Amanda's birthday the last two nights!  Tonight we had a family dinner (well, almost... we were missing Marsha).  The party festivities included eating an excellent dinner, blowing out candles and blowing spit bubbles (Evan), homemade cake and cake batter, and playing the Crisco drum!  Evan loves his Aunt Manda!

Guys Weekend

This weekend I had to work, so it was a guy's weekend for Evan and Daddy.  They had a great time!  Ryan is so good with Evan, and Evan loves his Daddy.  Ryan even managed to get to church and then to a fellowship after church by himself with Evan, which is no small job!  Here are some pics Ryan took of Evan playing in his "excersaucer". 

Papa and Mimi

Ryan and I are so blessed to have such wonderful and supportive parents.  The other day I was looking through our photos and realized that I had very few pictures of Evan with my mom (Mimi).  She has helped me with him a lot, so I always made an effort to take pictures of him with everyone else.  Here are a few pictures of him with his Papa and Mimi.  Papa is very good at getting Evan to sleep, but here they are reading together.  Mimi will probably not appreciate me posting this picture because it was late when we took it, but I think it's great!  

Bedtime

Every night we read Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?  Evan loves it!  He's not quite six months and he looks at every page and even turns the pages in the right direction.  I am not one of those crazy moms who thinks my kid can read at this young an age, but I think it's cool that he knows what to expect and that if you turn the page there is a different picture.  :o)
